Symphonic Band members auditioning for one of the All-District Bands in November will attend sectionals/masterclasses and receive extra help on the audition music and scales.
All eighth grade band members will "march" over to Williams Stadium with the eighth grade Jackson Middle School band students and the North Garland High School Raider Band, eat a hot dog dinner with the band kids, play in the stands with the high school marching band, and get front row spots to watch the halftime show.

All students who received a spot in one of the All-District Bands are REQUIRED to attend this clinic at North Garland High School to prepare for the concert on January 8th (the next day). Students should arrive EARLY with instruments, music, and a sharpened pencil (please also number the measures on your music prior to clinics).
All students who received a spot in one of the All-District bands after auditions are REQUIRED to attend the clinics in the morning and afternoon and then the concert in the evening. The concert is open and free to anyone and everyone to watch.

Eligible Symphonic Band students will attend sectionals/masterclasses to work on music from 2:00-3:30 PM. Students will then be served dinner from 3:30-4:10 PM. Then students will rehearse as a full-band with a clinician from 4:15-6:00 PM.
The Symphonic Band will have a Mock-UIL Band Contest at Bussey (in uniform) as a practice for upcoming band contests. The band will be judged by respected band directors and will receive constructive comments.

Middle school bands in Garland ISD will be randomly drawn for performance order (Times TBA) to warm-up, perform on stage, and sight-read at Garland High School (the site for UIL) to better prepare for the UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contest in April. The bands will not receive ratings - only constructive comments and recordings.

Eligible Symphonic Band students will be fed dinner from 4:00-4:30 PM; will have sectionals/masterclasses on the UIL music from 4:45-6:00 PM; and then will have a full-band rehearsal with a clinician from 6:00-8:00 PM.
